A Bit about Bob

r smartt

R. Smartt, known as Bob to his friends and family, is an author and creator whose work is rooted in a deeply personal history. Adopted as an infant, Bob has spent his life exploring themes of identity, origin, and the universal longing to belong.
After receiving a late‑in‑life diagnosis of being neurodivergent, writing became more than a passion for Bob—it became a gateway to understanding.

By channeling his own experiences into stories, he connects with anyone who has ever felt out of place, offering hope and validation.
His creative process is a tribute to the relationships that have shaped him. Characters such as the kind‑hearted Postmaster John, the ingenious David, the no‑nonsense Rebecca, and the compassionate Rachel are directly inspired by his siblings. Through them, Bob transforms personal history into universal tales of resilience, while the journey of Randolf the reindeer mirrors his own path toward self‑acceptance.
Bob is also dedicated to paying hope forward. A portion of each sale supports Together We Rise, an organization that helps children in foster care find stability and support.
For Bob, his story is an invitation to connect, to feel a little less alone, and to remind us all that our most unique qualities are not just what make us different, but what make us essential.
